Review
Mr Bao first visited this restaurant for a company lunch and has been itching to go again ever since. It doesn’t hurt that they offer a 1-for-1 special during lunch, even on Saturdays. All in, we only had to pay SGD 38 for a meal that would have cost us SGD 72!
The restaurant at Holland Village has a few tables indoors on the first floor, a whole second floor, and some alfresco seating. To guarantee indoor seating upstairs, I suggest you book ahead. Mr Bao tried to book in advance but the earliest slot available was said to be 2.30 pm. We decided to just do a walk-in and try our luck. We got there between 12 to 12.30 pm and were lucky to get a seat for two inside on the first floor. There were also plenty of seats available in the alfresco dining area, which was shaded and well ventilated with fans.
While ordering, we were offered free iced or warm water that was refillable. After they took our orders, they served this little basket of bread which includes two slices of a toasted baguette and a thinner crispy bread. I’m not sure what kind of bread the latter is. The breads were warm and look like they had just been toasted.
Appetiser bread with oil and vinegar (On the house)

The bread came with a small saucer of vinegar and oil. I had the crispy bread first and it didn’t exactly soak up the sauce as much as it just picked up some of the oil. The baguette on the other hand was crisp on the outside, and warm and fluffy on the inside. I liked the baguette more as it was better at soaking up the vinegar.
My only complaint is that I find it quite filling to have bread as a starter.
Burrata ($28.50)
From the pizza menu: Tomato, Mozzarella, fresh Burrata Cheese, Cherry Tomatoes & Basil

I insisted on the burrata pizza. If you’ve seen my Sentosa staycation vlog from last year, you will know that we had our first taste of Burrata at the Southside Interim Market (now known as the Market Hall Sentosa). Ever since then, I’ve keep a look out for burrata items to try.
While the burrata is pretty to look at, the star of this dish is the pizza bread. It was well cooked and the flavour of the bread was just good. The burrata itself didn’t have a really strong taste to it but it helped to balance out the stronger flavour of the melted mozzarella on the pizza. I wished there was more tomatoes and basil but I get that that’s probably not a popular opinion.
While tasty, I think two slices was enough for me. And the pizza had a total of eight slices! It’s very filling and the flavours are very rich. I was concerned initially that we had ordered too much and my concerns were justified. I think at least three people could share this pizza and one other main. If you’re going there as a pair, be prepared to pack the leftovers to eat at home later.
Taglierini al tartufo ($32)
From the pasta menu: Homemade Taglierini Pasta, Shiitake Mushrooms with Truffle-Cream sauce

This was Mr Bao’s choice. It was really good! The pasta was al dente, or just right. The sauce is so rich and I believe this is called an umami flavour. The flavours of the mushroom and the truffle were equally present. The sauce was not just creamy, it also tasted cheesy? I think they might have melted some cheese into the truffle-cream sauce.
Eat this while it’s still hot from the kitchen so that the sauce remains the right consistency. I left mine to cool for too long and the sauce was a bit grainy at the end.
Final thoughts
Overall, it was definitely value for money. I usually go for tomato-based pasta so I think this was an interesting change of pace. If I were to come back again though, I would try one of their other pastas or other foods. I would personally skip the pizza unless I’m in a large group just because of how filling it is. I’d also like the try some of their dessert next time as I noticed some other patrons having it.
