Mains & Sides
Kitsune Udon ($6.20)
A simple yet delightful dish. The sweetness from the fried tofu pairs well with the savoury broth. The warm noodles and soup are perfect for cooler weather.
Mentai Mayo Fries ($4.50)
A fan favourite. While I previously couldn’t understand why people would order fries at a sushi place, I have to admit that it’s now something I look forward to ordering. The fries act as the perfect vehicle for the mentai mayo sauce. Even though the sauce only reaches the top layer of fries, the fries themselves are already perfectly seasoned. So you can be sure that every bite will be delectable. If you want, you can also ask for more sauce, according to this video on Eatbook. Order this for an addictive and shareable snack.
Agedashi Tofu ($4.20)
The chewy outer layer gives way to a delicate tofu block within. A refreshing snack with a fragrant sauce and fun toppings.

Salmon Mentai ($3.20)
This is also one of my favourites to order from Genki. It’s nothing remarkable but I just enjoy the smokey char of the mentai mayo and the melt in your mouth salmon.
Amabei Gunkan ($3.20)
This was my first time trying this dish which is made with raw shrimp with tobiko (fish roe). The shrimp had an interesting soft and slimy texture. Note that the raw taste may seem a bit strong to some people. Recommended if you like the taste of shrimp or prawns.
Dai Man Zoku (Meaning: Maximum Satisfaction)
Sukiyaki Beef Dai Man Zoku ($1.90)
My favourite dish of the day. I ate it in 4 bites and every bite was a burst of the sweet and smokey.
Engawa Dai Man Zoku ($1.90)
I didn’t eat this but Mr Bao said it was “oily and delicious”. Watch the Singapore-based Japanese YouTuber Ghib Ojisan recommend it here when he ate at Genki with Eatbook.
Aburi Hamachi Yuzu Dai Man Zoku ($1.90)
I think this is a new addition to the menu. I only had a small bite of it which tasted just like regular fish. Mr Bao ate the rest and was impressed by how the yuzu changed the flavour of the sushi.
Final thoughts
The Dai Man Zokus were actually our favourite and potentially the most value-for-money. The mains and sides are quite expensive but the quality does not disappoint. I’m always ready to go back and try other dishes. The menu has quite a wide variety of dishes: sushi, cooked mains, and snacks. So rest assured that there will be something for the whole family. Kids especially will enjoy the iconic automated “trains” which ferry the food to your table.
