…December 2023 Favourites
Dear Friend,
I hope you’re having a good day. It’s a new year, which feels arbitrary to me as the days blend together during the holiday season. But in my current job, the year end festivities are like the calm before the storm. Now I just feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. In the meantime, I wanted to share some of my favourites from December, just for posterity’s sake.
…Sketches from Ipoh
Day 1 – Breakfast at Lim Ji Nyonya Laksa
It was a long wait for our first meal in Ipoh. I had an hour to spare and decided to sketch some of the customers. A quick sketch of the next table became a sketch of the rest of the shop and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. This is one of my favourites from the trip. I think because of the negative space from the plastic chairs, and the lady looking off the frame. It’s rare that I get to draw people from the front, especially people who are not being distracted by their phones.

Spotted these two cute cars in a carpark recently. They looked oddly familiar. 🤔 I wonder where I’ve seen them before.
…Teatime sketching no.1 – 2023-08-06
I’ve done teatime sketching before and I’ve posted the results on Instagram. Decided that I wanted to post this on my blog too just because this is where I enjoy creating and sharing things. So, enjoy! Here are some snapshots of people at Millenia Walk’s Koufu on a Sunday afternoon. I was chatting with my brother while sipping on a huge cup of iced milk tea. How lovely.
