I’ve recently started a new sketchbook and I decided that I wanted to number it as I had when I was younger. I forgot how many sketchbooks I had so I decided to check. As I was flipping though, I just felt like sharing some of these books because they’re like time capsules of my artistic teenage years.
Sketchbook 1 (2007 – 2012)
My very first sketchbook! What a special book. It’s also very cute because the cover pages are soft and puffy.
Sketchbook 2 (2010 – 2013)
For my second sketchbook, I printed out a bunch of cute photos I found to decorate the outside.
Sketchbook 3 (2013 – 2014)
This was right when we entered the peak of the Tumblr era. This sketchbook was also a free product so I definitely had to cover up the random cover with my favourite pictures.
Sketchbook 4 (Jun – Dec 2013)
I used a glitter mod podge to paint over these pictures because I thought it would help to preserve the pictures. It just made the covers feel like sandpaper.
Sketchbook 5 (2014)
I stopped printing out things and just started sticking random things I collected during the time of the sketchbook.
Sketchbook 6 (2014)
This was when I realised that movie tickets could not withstand the chemicals on the stick side of tape. I thought I was so smart for waterproofing them but at this point, I’m not sure what movie it was.
Sketchbook 7 (2014 – 2016)
I hadn’t collected anything fun so I stole some stickers from my brother and made a green colour scheme.
Sketchbook 8 (2015)
No decoration here, just random stickers I collected.
Sketchbook 9 (2016 – 2017)
I got this sketchbook when my family visited the Dreamworks Animation exhibition.
Sketchbook 10 (2018)
My first watercolour sketchbook! It’s quite small.
Sketchbook 11 (2018 – 2019)
This was a random blank notebook my mum had.
Sketchbook 12 (2018 – 2023)
Here was the 5 year drought of university where I virtually stopped drawing entirely.
